The UK’s native wildlife and habitats are under threat. According to a recent Government document, approximately £80M is required each year to halt the loss of our valuable biodiversity. Can your organisation help?
Carbon offsetting seems to have become the predominant method for organisations to address their environmental impact. This is, however, not the only sustainability issue. There is even greater developmental pressure on the UK’s green spaces and this is impacting on our native fauna and flora. If we can protect and enhance our natural environment we can also make a tremendous difference to the quality of life of people.
GrantScape is an environmental grant making charity that has committed over £65M in grants over the last 10 years. Since 2005, GrantScape has been focusing its grant making on the conservation of wildlife and habitats. We have now run three annual ‘Biodiversity Challenges’ and have committed over £8M to 20 large, high impact projects across England and Wales, some of which are at ecosystem and landscape level. This scale of grant-making is recognised by Government and nature conservation experts as the most important way to conserve biodiversity in reaction to the threat of global warming.
GrantScape is a leading, highly respected grant maker in nature conservation. We have received complimentary references from several major UK wildlife charities in terms of how we manage and distribute these grants.
In 2008, we plan to commit a further £1.7 million to the GrantScape Biodiversity Challenge, split as follows:
- Local - Bedfordshire and Luton
These Challenges can be viewed as ‘one-off competitions’. Every application is assessed against agreed judging criteria using independent external biodiversity experts. This ensures that we support the best and most important projects. All successful applications are monitored against delivery and sustainability, ensuring the grants made provide excellent value for money.
GrantScape is looking for partners and/or sponsors to provide money to maximise the number of nature conservation projects that can be supported for the Regional and National Challenges. This could be by direct donations or a contribution through gift aid as part of an organisations Corporate Social Responsibility.
Any level of financial support would be welcome and will be suitably recognised. Therefore, in terms of leverage against GrantScape’s funds, this offer provides an excellent PR opportunity. Organisations will be associated with the highest profile and ecologically important conservation projects within the UK
