All grants are subject to projects meeting GrantScape's Generic Grant-making Policy as well as the Specific Funding Criteria detailed below
Fund Overview:
- The CWM Community and Environmental Fund has approximately £200,000 available per year
- A maximum of 15% of the Fund is available for qualifying projects from Religious Organisations
- A maximum of 15% of the Fund is available for qualifying projects involving playgrounds on Council owned land
- There are 2 funding rounds each year, with decisions usually announced in May and November
- Grants will be awarded for amounts between £5,000 and £50,000
- Match Funding will not be required
Contributing Third Party (CTP) Donation:
A CTP donation will be required for each grant award.
Applicants will need to identify an individual or organisation willing to make a donation to the landfill operator to release the grant. This donation will be a maximum of 10% of the total contribution made by the landfill operator to provide the grant amount and includes other associated fees. The individual or organisation must not benefit, for example, by winning a contract to carry out the work.

Project Location:
Projects must be located in Carmarthenshire and be within 10 miles of a licensed landfill site.
Project Purpose:
Grants are available for community and environmental projects, particularly those which can demonstrate the enhancement of biodiversity.
Grants will be available for capital improvement works to public amenity projects. Examples may include:
- Village halls
- Village greens
- Public playgrounds (see note below)
- Sports fields and facilities
- Nature reserves
- Community centres
- Cycle paths
- Country parks
(Applications involving playgrounds on Council owned land will only be funded if applicants can demonstrate significant community fundraising efforts to help financially support the project.
Management, administration and professional costs will only be considered for funding if they form part of a wider application for a capital project and can only constitute a maximum of 10% in total of the amount applied for.)
Projects must comply with the requirements of the Landfill Communites Fund (LCF). Details of the LCF can be found on ENTRUST's website (www.entrust.org.uk).
Priority:
Priority will be given to applicants that clearly understand and can demonstrate the social, economic and environmental benefits the project will provide.
Public Access Requirements:
Projects must be available and open to the general public - as a minimum, for 4 evenings a week, or 2 days a week, or 104 days a year.
Ineligible Applicants:
- Organisations operating for the purpose of making and distributing profit
- Schools
- Individuals
- Single user sports facilities
Project Exclusions:
Grants will not be available for:
- Projects that have already been completed (retrospective funding)
- Projects that are considered statutory requirements
- Projects that are solely aimed to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act
- Projects that are located on private land
- Revenue costs will not normally be funded
Judging Criteria:
The main criteria used when assessing applications received will be:
- The level of community support for and involvement in the project
- The local community benefit and enjoyment which will result from the project
Other factors will also be considered which must be demonstrated in the application:
- The ability of the applicant to deliver the project
- How the work will be continued after the project has been completed, i.e. its sustainability and legacy
- Value for money
