In all, we received 35 grant applications from across England and Wales, seeking a total of £8.3 million in funding. These were all of a very high quality and designed to deliver substantial biodiversity gains.
GrantScape’s trustees, supported by an independent specialist advisory panel, have now selected five projects to receive grants. These projects were chosen for the significance of their biodiversity value and the important contributions that they are expected to make to national biodiversity objectives.
The £1.16 million now awarded takes GrantScape’s total grant-making through our 'Biodiversity Challenge' and 'Working with Nature' programmes to nearly £10 million since 2005. We would like to thank Waste Recycling Group Limited who very kindly provided the monies for these grant programmes through the Landfill Communities Fund.
