Welcome to our latest edition of OutLook. In this issue we have included updates relating to the Funds we are currently managing and details of the grants our Board have recently approved.

RenewableUK 2011 Conference and Exhibition
GrantScape attended the RenewableUK 2011 Conference in late October, where we had a Stand to promote our expertise in designing and managing Community Benefit Funds. The conference was very well attended and was particularly informative in relation to the development and importance of Wind Energy for the future.

GrantScape is very pleased to be administering the £220,000 Oxfordshire Stronger Communities Fund on behalf of the Oxfordshire Stronger Communities Alliance (OSCA). Two of the twenty groups that received grants have now completed their projects:
Cutteslowe Community Association
This group was awarded a grant of £5,000 for its project Cutteslowe Summer Playscheme 2011 which ran in Cutteslowe during August for 5-11 year olds. This grant supported many families during the long school holidays by offering affordable and high quality care and educational opportunities for their children. 54% of the children who attended were from families on benefits, which was substantially more than the group's target for the project. The Playscheme included trips for the children to a local activity farm, plus swimming and ice skating sessions which they loved.
South Oxfordshire Adventure Playground (SOAP) SOAP received a grant of £19,303 for its project Replacing and Improving the Playground Hut and Increasing Accessibility at the adventure playground in South Oxford. This was badly needed, as the group's existing hut was small, old and inadequate.
Happily, the newly refurbished and much larger modular building, which was opened on 16th July, is already proving a great success. The building has been open all summer, enabling the group to extend its opening to include the October half-term and after school since September. It has also remained open when the weather has been poor, so staff have been able to provide exciting indoor opportunities for the children even at these times.

Following the first deadline to the Mick George Community Fund, four projects have been provisionally approved grants. These are: - Corby Amateur Boxing Club with a grant towards new club facilities Geddington, Newton and Little Oakley Parish Council with a grant towards new playground facilities
Wilbarston Village Hall with a grant towards roof, lighting and new toilets Kettering St. Andrew Parochial Trust with a grant towards the upgrade of existing and provision of new toilets
These organisations are now in the next stage of meeting our grant preconditions before their projects can start.
The next deadline for applications to the Fund will be announced in early 2012, so please keep an eye on our website!

The next closing date is Monday 5 March 2012, 12 noon. For more information about the Fund and how to apply, please click here

The available budget for this Programme is set to almost double in the coming 12 months, with an estimated £600,000 up for grabs each year. This increase has sparked the launch of the Programme’s new ‘Flagship Grants’ which will award grants of up to a massive £100,000 to two special projects each year. These Flagship Grants will be used to support high profile projects that will benefit large areas of Leeds and its communities.
Also, the Caird Bardon Community Programme closed for applications on 21 November 2011. 28 applications were received requesting grants totalling over £1 million for projects with a combined total project cost of more than £2.2 million.
